MIRACLE LEAGUE BUDDY QUALIFICATIONS AND DUTIES
- Must be at least 12 years old.
- Must have a recommendation form signed by a non-parent (teacher, coach, youth minister, scout leader) attesting to your reliability and maturity. (For referral form, please click here or see Documents menu). If you are 18 years of age or older at the beginning of a season, a background check will be run.
- Must arrive to your game 30 minutes prior to the start time to warm up players.
- Must make contact with parent of player to gain a better vision of their needs.
- Must attend a pre season orientation session.
- Must put your Miracle League game ahead of any social event that is optional.
- Must be able to commit to attending as many games as possible, with the exceptions being school or UIL sanctioned events where attendance is a must or a family event that is non-negotiable.
- Must wear the ML Buddy t-shirt and closed toe shoes during the games.
- Must have exemplary behavior while wearing Miracle League attire.
- Must give 100% of your attention to your player for the 1.5 hours required of you at the games.
- Must be engaging, supportive, and protective of your player.
- Must be flexible in working with other players on the team, attempting to get to know all the kids on that team.
- Must participate in the “half-time” activities with your player including the Chicken Dance and TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME!
- MUST help, post game, with cleanup and sanitation of equipment and dugout.
- Must check your email regularly for updates and scheduling information and communication from the ML staff.
Each Buddy will received service hours for their time each season. These hours are based on each game a buddy is able to attend. The Buddy must sign in. A Miracle League representative will sign for service hours, however we will not sign for hours required for any type of discipline issues, whether school or community related.
